At The Wiltshire we recognise the need for the successful development of junior golfers from coaching through to full adult membership.
Junior coaching is provided by our resident professional, Marc McCracken who holds training sessions most weekends. These sessions are designed to introduce our juniors to all aspects of golf and appreciate the many benefits that playing the game can bring. The emphasis throughout for our juniors will be on enjoying the game of golf in a safe and secure environment, developing existing skills and promote course management and golf etiquette.
Junior club competitions will be held on our 9-hole Garden course and will be open to all juniors, even those without a handicap; all our juniors can obtain a Congu Handicap and will be able to play in all senior competition once they have obtained the qualifying handicap. At the club and have a range of generous membership subscriptions. Our Junior Pathway is as follows:
Become a member of the Club
There are three age groups:
Be assessed by the club Professional
Before you go out on the course, you will need to show that you understand the basic rules of golf and course etiquette; assessment will be undertaken by the club professional.
Play on the course
Once you’ve passed your assessment you are free to play on the Garden and/or Lakes Courses depending on your membership.
Represent the Club
We aim to establish a Junior Team to contest with other clubs through the County League or local arrangements. This is in addition to Junior Club Competitions, or individual entries to other Junior Open competitions.
Represent the County
It is our hope that we can develop some young players to represent the County and we are building relationships with the Wiltshire County Committee to assist in this matter.

Within our junior lessons we use The Golf Foundation Junior Golf Passport scheme, this is the national learning programme for juniors who are 7 years and older. It is a comprehensive, progressive, structured programme designed to help young people learn about playing the game of golf. We set our juniors achievable targets, give them an understanding of the rules and etiquette of the game and most importantly we have loads of fun!
